We have set sail on our delivery journey
Ferry Holdings has officially signed a contract with Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) for the construction of two new Cook Strait ferries. The agreement was formalised at GSI’s shipyard this week.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Right Honourable Winston Peters, Chris MacKenzie – Chair of Ferry Holdings, Mr Zhou Xuhui, William – President of Guangzhou Shipyard International, and other senior leaders from CSSC and GSI.
“GSI was selected for its expertise, advanced ferry design, and world-class shipbuilding facilities. The new ferries will strengthen the connection across the Cook Strait, supporting New Zealand’s tourism and freight sectors,” said Chris Mackenzie.
This milestone marks a significant step forward for Ferry Holdings and New Zealand, strengthening the vital connection across the Cook Strait, and providing certainty for our tourism and freight sectors-both essential to New Zealand’s livelihood.
“We look forward to working closely with GSI to deliver these vessels to the highest standards, creating value for both companies and our countries.” said Chris Mackenzie.
